Bridesmaid Dresses
By Sher Matsen
Once youve decided your wedding theme and wedding
colors you can then begin to look at your bridesmaid dresses. In most cases the bridesmaid
dresses are coordinated with the basic wedding color theme.
The style is entirely up to you. The classic A-line
bridesmaids dresses are still very popular. The most common color choices are still pale
gold, blue and pink. A strapless corset top with a full skirt are also still very popular
bridesmaid choices. Various take offs of this style have come into fashion as well.
In the past few years weve seen brides choosing
stronger and or brighter colors for their bridesmaids. Its a fabulous transition to
the drabness of the past. We are seeing more brides choosing colors such as turquoise,
red, purple, and yellow.
We are also seeing a huge come back in backless dresses,
halter dresses , and sweetheart neckline dresses. This seasons 5 most popular fabrics are
silk, satin, taffeta, organza, and lace. Mix and match these fabrics to achieve the
ultimate look.
Bridesmaid dresses come in a variety of styles so what
ever your wishes your will most certainly be able to find the dresses that please you. No
longer do your bridesmaids have to look frumpy. You can dress them to look their very best
and believe me when they look good they feel good, and youll see the results in your
photos.
Depending on your wedding theme your bridesmaids
flowers can range from wearing a single flower corsage to carrying a larger flower
bouquet. Perhaps youll skip the flowers and have them carry dainty handbags that
match their dresses. Small handbags are great stuffed with flower petals that are then
scattered behind the bride.
The bridesmaids dresses and attire should compliment
the bride. Their design is usually quite simple so as not to take away from the bride.
They are very easily made more glamorous simply by adding the right accessories a
beautiful broach or necklace can add the finishing touch. Bridesmaid tiaras also look
quite stunning. Tiaras, jewelry, and flowers add the final touches to bridesmaids
dresses.
An old tradition that has gone out the window is that all
your bridesmaids must wear the same style dress. Todays modern wedding allows for
mixing and matching. You may want to put your bridesmaids in the same color but different
styles that accentuate their personal body shape. Or you may want to put them all in the
same style but different colors. Today most anything goes. Just as the bride need not wear
a traditional white puffy gown, bridesmaids no longer need to look traditional either.
Once youve decided the theme of your wedding, and
the style of the brides dress, then you can move forward to choosing bridesmaids dresses.
Its your day and your wedding so dress your wedding party to fit you. I
guarantee if you stay with this philosophy you will be pleased with the outcome!
